I experimented with a different background during Christmas and have toyed with the idea of putting some color into my blog as a part of its layout. Only problem is, I'm really design-challenged. I'm a minimalist at heart. While some people look at a blank wall and salivate with the possibilities, I can look at the same wall, shrug my shoulders and say, "Yeah, looks good to me."
So I've put up a poll to ask your opinions on the subject. Do you like the new color? Does it make you think of pumpkin puke? Should I have just stuck with the plain white background that I had before? Go with a different color?
Now's not the time to lurk. Select all of the choices that apply and let me know what you think. Failure to make your opinion known may mean the difference between something aesthetically pleasing to the eye and something you see swirling around a toddler's sippy cup after eating a handful of crackers.

Orange is actually my favorite color, but I think this is too much. It makes your text difficult to read. I like a colorful background (not that you can tell from my site! lol.) but I think it should be more neutral.
Thanks for your comment, Tanya! I'm a bit overwhelmed by it, too but I need minds greater than mine who have even a modicum more design sense to point me in the right direction. Appreciate it. :)
Hi Deb,
I like the old color too. This is hard for me to read.

Thanks Anne. Maybe my original design sense wasn't so off after all.
Agree with comments already entered. Nice color, just not "user friendly" on the eyes as far as reading the text goes.
I'm beginning to see a consensus here....
I agree with the previous comments the color is a little dark. If you keep the color make the text larger or just go back to the basics.
You know it always works.
:)
Looking forward to your good post in 2009.
Happy New Year.
I don't know how blogger works, but perhaps there's a way to keep the orange on your sidebar, and make a lighter or more neutral color for the blog posts?
I love color (that's why my site has almost NO white in it), but everyone is right... it's easier to read off a lighter background.
Have fun experimenting! :)
