Resource Friday - 252 Boys Bible

Be sure to read all the way down to the bottom for a great bonus!

“Check out Luke 8:30-33. Legion turns pigs into lemmings. Stand back! It’s a ham-pede! The lake must have been filled with floating pig corpses. Do you suppose the townspeople fished any of the demon-possessed pork out of the sea? Er… maybe not. Yeah, for sure not. Who’d want to eat a possessed pig?”

So states the Gross! sidebar on page 1331 in the 252 Boys Bible edited by Rick Osborne. Do you think that would be enough to capture the attention of the average 8-12 year old boy? According to reviews on Amazon.com, that’s exactly what several parents found when their sons picked this Bible up to look through it. It got their attention so that they wanted to read more.

The Bible is in its entirety using the NIV translation. Additional features include short bits of information in the beginning of each book (who wrote it, why it was written, etc.) answered in snippets (for the boy whose mind wanders quickly); 252 Track insets which further explain Bible passages in more contemporary language; other insets called Make It Stick, where the young man can write answers to questions (or just doodle); and another sidebar item called Get A Load of This which offers interesting and sometimes funny facts about the Bible.

The 252 Boys Bible is based on Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Through Jesus’ example and the example of other Bible characters, boys will be shown how to be smarter, stronger, deeper and cooler.

Our sons who are between the ages of 8-12 are in a phase where transporting earthworms in pants pockets is no big deal, and neither is daring each other to do the stupidest antics. If we want these boys to grow up into godly men who use discernment and boldness in their faith, we need to reach them on their level.

The 252 Boys Bible entices them in just the right way so they want to read more. And that’s a very good thing.

Guess what? I have a copy of the 252 Boys Bible to give away - FOR FREE! All you have to do is leave a comment (make sure I can get back to you). I’ll put all the names into a hat and draw one out Saturday morning (1/31) around 11am (CT), so you have until then to get your name in. I feel confident that YOU will be the winner!

Okay, Put me in, now I have a 7yr old that reads very well. He is half Jewish and doesn't really know about God, yet... we have bible readings before taking him to school now. When I told him how special it was to be Jewish, his eyes lit up.
So as hard as it all is, all things work together for good...
Thanks for doing this Deb.

I would LOVE to win this for my son, Isaac, who turns 8 in March. We got his little brother a new Bible for Christmas, but since Isaac had one, didn't think he needed a new one. Now he's dying for something more 'reader friendly' than his current NKJV!

Thanks so much for such an uplifting giveaway!

Wow...so you have to have a way to get back to me? So does that include an address sort of thing? sure. My email is nathan_gast00@Yahoo.com and my address is 1101 Douglas Ave. Kansas City, KS. Names Nathan Gast and I'm a pastor of Fair Haven Baptist Church in Kansas City. This Bible sounds like it would really be a great asset to our youth ministry! Hope I can win it!

This bible looks quite interesting. It's hard to get kids to read the bible. I'd love to use it in Sunday School studies. Thanks.
